Last week we were at Harvey Nichols for the launch of a new capsule collection by ellesse heritage and FAC51 The Haçienda. The range of polo shirts was designed to commemorate 30 years since the iconic Manchester super club first opened its doors.
We designed the collaboration positioning presenter which helped persuade Harvey Nichols to stock the exclusive range in the first instance, as well as the branded retail environment and presentation gift box, so we were chuffed to finally see the concession and the collection in all its glory.
There were DJ sets from Haçienda co-founder and Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook and one-time Haç resident Graeme Park, as well an insightful Q&A hosted by John Robb featuring Hook, Park and former managers Ange Matthews and Leroy Johnson (‘We lost £10m but it was worth it!’, ‘It was fun until the gangsters turned up’). After all that, Harvey Nics really didn’t know what had hit it.
It’s fair to say we were equally blown away. It’s one thing working with two brands such as FAC51 The Haçienda and ellesse on such a unique project. It’s quite another having it all on display in the city’s most exclusive department store to the sound of classic house and epic tales about nights out at arguably the UK’s most influential nightclub.
A fair few people had already carried away a piece of Manchester history by the time we left (the buttons are made from the original dancefloor tread plate), so our advice would be to head down to Harvey Nichols before they all go.
